Convention Directions

Thank you for Supporting the ideals of Life, Liberty and Property! Print E-mail

I want to thank everyone for participating in the Republican Senate Nominating Convention process whether or not you voted for me. I send a special thank you to those who placed their confidence in my candidacy either by their vote, or their many hours volunteering by making phone calls, stuffing envelopes, praying, and helping at the Convention. I am indebted to all of you.

Some have brought concerns to my attention regarding the operation of the convention with respect to safeguards for accuracy and fairness in voting, credentialing of delegates, excluding of delegates and other observations. If you have such, please send them to me, and I will give them to the appropriate persons.

I decided to run for the Republican nomination for Senate after many individuals asked me to run. We had little time: I announced my candidacy January 9, served in the General Assembly session until March 10, and therefore was unable to direct much attention to the US Senate campaign until mid March.

In terms of numbers of delegates, as opposed to weighted delegate votes, the roar of the crowd and presence of Marshall signs, indicated a clear majority presence for the message I brought to Virginia Republicans.

In terms of weighted delegated vote, the difference was less than .6%. And this result came after being outspent by roughly twelve to one! So, I am extremely encouraged by the support we received, and the effective campaign we waged using our financial resources very frugally. You can view a video we had hoped to run at the convention, but were denied permission by the RPV.

You are the most important part of my campaign, not me.

Cathy, Joey, Tommy and I met a tremendous number of Virginians who are concerned about the direction of our nation and our Party, as well as the erosion of principles upon which our Nation was founded. I had many opportunities in the press, at meetings, on television and radio to bring our message of hope and true conservative values, to the people who make this nation great.

I listened to many voters who told me they were tired of electing Republican candidates who turned out to be “Democrat lite,” and who were too eager to abandon the weakest among us and who forget that every single human life from conception forward is valuable and made in Our Creator’s image and entitled to full protection of the law, or who ignore the crushing burden of national debt that is being placed on our children and their children, or who fail to be attentive to the loss of our Nation’s sovereignty, and who fail to strongly uphold the spirit and purpose of open, limited and constitutional government.

It has been an incredible honor to make calls all around Virginia and to travel the state and listen to fellow Republican voters, hear their concerns, and to explain my views and ideas on how keep our nation “one nation under God, with liberty and justice for all.”

May we continue the fight for the good of our families, our communities, our Party, our Commonwealth and our Nation. And may we be successful in defeating Mark Warner this fall!

Sincerely,

PS Oh, yes, keep those Marshall signs for future use! I have been helping a Republican Congressional Candidate in Northern Virginia. I will keep you informed regarding the upcoming special General Assembly session on transportation.
